Boy Culture is an award-winning LGBT film adaptation of the novel of the same name by Matthew Rettenmund. It made its world premiere in the United Kingdom at the London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival on April 1 2006, and made its debut in the United States at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 26 2006. It subsequently received a theatrical release in France on January 31 2007, a very limited theatrical release in the United States on March 23 2007, and in Spain on June 8 2007. It was released on DVD-video on August 14,2007.

Plot

A successful male escort describes in a series of confessions his tangled romantic relationships with his two roommates and an older, enigmatic male client.

While the story remains the same as the novel - a call boy (Magyar) who goes by the name 'X' throughout the film in order to maintain his anonymity and his relationships between his two roommates (Stephens & Trent), one of whom he's in love with, and an enigmatic older client (Bauchau) who challenges him to find his heart before he will consent to sex - some things have been changed, including the character of Andrew's skin color and the location of the story (the film takes place in Seattle, Washington, whereas in the novel the setting was Chicago, Illinois).
