one word - Vile. What a bitter, bitter disappointment. Having read on the internet that there had been a recent refurbishment i was extremely surprised to find basic hygiene issues at this place. The toilets smelt of sweaty feet and sewage and it all went down hill from there. The nicest part of the whole place had to be the chill out area where the on-site staff seemed genuinely keen to be helpful. as a tourist to Brighton i feel that Oasis has a real duty to reflect what Brighton is all about and all it did was completely disappoint. Oh well - you live and learn.

I have not been to Brighton for some time so I checked out these listings for a sauna. I have been to the Oasis, but some years ago and I recall it was ok. If the bench mark for gay saunas is the Thermos in Amsterdam then the Oasis now is better than it was but no where near the quality required. For the UK the standard has been set by Chariots in Shoreditch and Oasis is similar. Tonight I went to Oasis and found it very quiet - Friday evening? It also does not have the feel of a proper cruiser place and although by personal experience and persistence I had a great time, clearly many guys were not. It needed more people, a better sling room, a Georges Cross, a video room with massive mattresses and more decent cabins. A good dark room would not go amiss. So whilst I enjoyed it there is a long, long way to go.

This is a friendly and active sauna and one of the best i have been in. In particular the staff are friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them. The places is kept clean and tidy and although some minor improvements could be made in general the facilities are first rate.

My second visit here, and everything was in working order, clean, and the staff were friendly. Unfortunately, on this occasion I must have hit on a "No Touching" day. Everyone was poncing around with that "Look at fabulous ME!" poise, and carefully avoiding any real contact. I stepped aside and watched the self indulgent antics with barely concealed chortles. A couple of attempts at getting physical by some poor soul either unaware of the no-go rule of the day, or overcome with desire received hissing, spitting, claw-baring rebuffs that would shame a glaring of female cats on heat upon the advances of a solitary male at full Moon.

After reading these reviews, I very nearly did not visit. I am so glad I ignored many of the comments made here and atually visited while visiting Brighton. I actually ended up visiting three times in two days. The good; the staff [on my visits] were very friendly and chatty and only to pleased to help. The sauna was warm [ok, it was Aug!]. It was clean - very clean, cleaner than I have often found Chariots or Pleasuredome in London. On the Thursday they offered a free pass out, although not available on the Friday sadly. The website works - www.oasissauna.co.uk And when I visited there was a good mix of guys ranging from early 20's through to OAP's. Unlike the London sauna's there was plenty of chatting going on in the spa pool and cafe. Slippery floors? come on guys, its a sauna with wet area - its gonna be slippy - and there are ample signs advising caution around the staircase etc. And there was plenty of ation going on!! Ample free condoms and lube available [without having to ask staff for them]. The not so good [for a balanced review!]; sadly of all the rest rooms only a couple had locks on that worked. The cafe drink prices seemed a tad high [£1 for cans/Tea/Coffee?? [although the £13 entry fee seemed in line with most other sauna's around the UK]; a small section of tiling on the wall of the spa needed sorting [about 1ft square] - otherwise interior decoration was to a high standard. So, if you've not been, don't let the reviews here put you off - visit the sauna and make up your own mind. I went expecting the worst [only reason I went was cause the weather was to crap to be on the beach]. Its actually a nice place, I had a fun time, I will be going back next time i'm in Brighton.

This sauna used to ge the BEST gay sauna in Brighton. Most luxurious [even a pool] and THE nicest, most friendly place to go.
Sadly it has now changed hands and is a pale shadow of what it once was. Higher prices, fewer facilities seem to be what's on offer now. And the wonderful, informative website [linked to by countless gay oriented websites] has gone along with the oasissauna domain name. A real rebackward step in this internet age.

The Oasis has really gone downhill. 'Refurbishment' has ruined the layout and cruise-friendliness. The new steam room is cold and the dark/video room - which was great to escape to - is gone. The old back-to-back steam room/sauna area is now a useless rest area with only one entrance/exit. And with the withdrawal or pass-outs and weekend passes it is now a very expensive option. Really disappointing as this used to be a great place.

Have to give it one star as this is the lowest the website allows, otherwise, would be no stars.
Just noticed that the website which was supposed to be undergoing a revamp has now disappeared altogether. They have allowed the domain name of oasissauna.com to expire . . . another sign that a once great sauna has gone, awwwwwwwww.
So second hand clothes are for sale there? What next? Fruit and vege? Discount DVDs?

Sad to see one of brigtons best sauna gone down hill. Yes Changes have been made and decorations are still ongoing, but the place has lost its busy populatiry. High prices and no re-entry dose mean less people and of course means only the older can still afford to use it. Staff were extremly non helpful and the food choice was limited but they have the same prices as before, which did mean good value for money but now only means another rip off. Also there was one female milling arround[ not a done thing in a men only sauna] and it appears that not only are they selling off the old fixtures and fittings.[ie the Mummy which stood so proudly in the TV area is now for sale at £150.00 It also appears that one of the new owners had a Cloths shop and is selling off all the unwanted dress and shoes. [there are some great bargins to be had drag Queens take note] Anyway I for one will be looking back with some great memories but will be looking for a new venue.

OK, so a mechanical pump failure meant that the Jacuzzi was out of action, but the engineer was working on it in the afternoon [discreetly out of sight somewhere, except to turn on the water again] which is more than I can rustle up if my car goes ping on a Bank Holiday!. Pass outs; they are available. The nice friendly crowd of customers, hardly ever less than 35 in number, were an assortment of sizes, shapes and ages. The gloom-room off the sauna was in good use and not gone as others say, and the kind workers kept the place clean and tidy with the floors constantly being swished with those giant windscreen wiper brush things. The heating was working, the pool was sparkling and warm, and the rest rooms mopped and cleaned regularly. Yes you can get a free drink of water. Just look along the Pharaoh's Cafe and free iced water is always available in disposable paper cups. Most hygienic! This was my first visit, so I don't know what it was like before, but I would certainly go again. I found it clean, pleasant and run by some friendly and helpful people. There is also a thriving drag centred dress hire business running from this venue.

Reading the latest review [increased and inflexible pricing, towels extra, many facilities removed] I would definitely never return!!!

Since new owners have taken over this place has gone very quickly down hill. They have become very penny pinching and mean. They have stopped discount entry before 2pm, it is now £13 at all times. They have stopped re-entry passes, so if you wish to go again later it's another £13, how many students or young people can afford this? Hence when I visited there was only three old people in the whole place. I have heard the place has been quiet ever since. They have also removed the free drinking fountain, and all hair gels, mouth washes and toiletries. Towels are also extra, being 50 pence each. The staff are also rude and unfriendly, and if you complain you are asked to leave. Also the floors are soaking, there is no heating, the steam room is freezing cold, the video room has been removed, the second sauna cabin has also been removed. Overall, a very poor sauna indeed - ZERO RATING.

Up stairs rooms have seen the best of their days and showing signs of age. Locks on doors missing which spoils the intimacy with a guy. Charging for extra towels is a major put-off and does not encourage guests to keep clean and dry. However a good selection of spunky men to have especiallyaround 1am when the club start to empty. Will visit again and take my own towel to end the evening with.

Have been an occasional visitor for some years. Last went mid-week in early March just after the mirror room had opened. It is a very goood idea and adds to what is already the best sauna in the area in my view. Not always a lot of action mid-week afternoons, but the atmosphere is great. If you just want gay sex then Bright n Beuatiful gives you all you want. Mid-week mostly men in my experience with the very occasional couple and even single women. [Nurses from the hospital they say.] Enjoy the sun roof if the weather's right. Well worth it all round Tony

Hi John
Well I have been there about 6 or 7 times over the years, never met anyone. Yes, it is usual for men to lie in the booths and wank, usualy with the doors open. But even I have never known what this indicates, whether it is an invite. Or are they just enjoying being exhibitionists.
What gets me every time, is the almost total SILENCE. Most wandering around not even exchanging glances. I noticed the same depressing air in the gay saunas I have visited [again, never meeting].
From what I have read elsewhere, apparently the Jacuzzi is the meeting place? Feet might 'accidently' brush against your feet when the jacuzzi is going. If you don't move them away, they do that several more times, getting more daring, stroking away. Supposedly the opening salvo to break the ice and take it upstairs.
As for getting erections in the jacuzzi or sauna, I don't think anyone would mind in the slightest, this just happens, and is natural. It is sexual activity between people which the owners of the place discourage - unless it is behind the closed doors of the restrooms.

I worry about Jane's escapade yesterday. Very risky otherwise! Hoping she insisted on condoms all round - gee, use a 'pack of three' in one session, that's style :]
I get the impression from this site that during the day Bristol Gardens is all predominantly gay, or bi curious. Well, it is in the middle of Kemptown and much more luxurious than it's nearest rival, the Oasis Sauna'.
The thing that niggled me the last few weeks was . . . emmm . . . why a heterosexual lady is asking on a gay website for men to satisfy her. Such thoughts strike me as I lie alone in the dark pleasuring myself. :]
Still don't know whether to take up James Burton's offer to let me wrestle with his big hairy . . . I am having very wet dreams about it :]

But have had a great time with one fellow on 2 occasions. He is terrific and has given me a wonderful time, bent over the rest room couch, whilst being fucked. Hope to meet again soon.

Just tried to get in here this evening at 9.15pm. Rang doorbell. Nobody came to the front desk. Waited a minute. Rang bell again. Nobody came. Finally, guy with blond hair arrives at desk. Ignores me standing at door in full view. Rang doorbell again. Guy still ignores me. So I left. Saved my £12 and got a shag off the dar. I can only assume that either a] their doorbell doesnt work and the guy behind the desk is blind or b] the guy behind the desk is an attitude queen who took exception to me ringing the doorbell more than once. Obviously the place was so overrun with gorgeous guys at 9pm on Sunday evening that they didnt need my money.. or it's true what they say about the staff there... AVOID!!!

Seriously had a great time - honestly had my very first cock in my ass, apologies to the guys in the sauna dark room for the noise!! Felt so good and want it again! Fucked loads of guys [7+, nice to see everyone likes it safe too] and sucked loads of cocks - was knelt on the floor upstairs just sucking anyone who wanted it, had 5 or 6 at once which was great! A very good visit. The Oasis is a very clean and well maintained establishment. The steam room was spotless and, dare I say it , had a hint of citrus about the place ! The pool was great and just the right temperature. There was a good selection of clientele to suit all sorts. The showers were hot and the jacuzzi was clear and clean. The rather cute receptionist did not go unnoticed either ! The video rooms were also clean and played some good new videos to get everybody in "the mood !" The 'rest' rooms were also clean and always a good supply of condoms and lube around. The cafe also looked inviting however I did not sample any of the fayre only because I have issues with eating in a place knowing that someone is getting rimmed 3ft away !! I was also brought up to wear a shirt at the dining table too ! In all......definitely well worth a visit and well done to the management and staff.

Re simons comment... well if thats the case then the forum is not being used in the spirit in whihc it was intended. Owners should not be able to post comments about their own establishments in order to up their overall ratings. Maybe the webmaster should look into providing a facility whereby owners can reply to comments raised without having to give a biased rating of their own product?

Well I have to say, after reading that somewhat dyslexic and damning review by Pete [Posted 15 March] I was a little sceptical about making a visit to this establishment. However I have to say, I had a great time at the Oasis! I arrived at 2am and the place was heaving. OK, not everyone was my cup of tea but there was sufficient eye candy to keep me amused. I began my night with a coffee in the TV lounge, served to me by the most gorgeous tattooed muscle bear I have ever laid eyes on! I then descended into the bowels of the sauna and got myself very busy. There seemed no shortage of action on my visit!! Furthermore the pool was very warm, the Jacuzzi hot and I didn’t notice any kind of untoward smells in any part of the place, as were mentioned by Pete. I also noticed that there were staff constantly running about the place cleaning the cabins and mopping wet floors. The place, whilst a little old, does seem to be well looked after. All in all I found the place to be clean and the staff and patrons friendly. I’ll definitely go back next time I’m in Brighton.

The 2 owners of the oasis are the same 2 guys that opened the sauna 6yrs ago, you can meet them at our birthday party on the 5th April if you'd like, see website for details. I would have been suprised if Tony had given the oasis less than 5stars he does work there, you will also note that i too have given the oasis 5stars but then i would i run the business for the 2 owners. It also has a "Comments" section for complaints, suggestions, and observations which we will responde asap. Part 1) Dear Pete, Thank you for your posting regarding your visit to The Brighton Oasis Sauna on the lunchtime of 14 February 2005. In this response I will endeavour to address your complaints point by point. Firstly I am sorry to hear that the sauna was not busy during your visit. As I’m sure you can appreciate, we are not in control of the number of visitors we receive at any given period. Like any other sauna, we will have quiet times and busy times. Monday daytimes are always our quietest period, following as it does our busiest period, which is of course the weekend. The date in question, 14 February, was of course Valentines Day. From our past experience we had anticipated that this would be a quiet day for the sauna, and as such chose this day to carry out some routine maintenance.
Tony Rating Date of visit 22 Feb 2005
Part 2) The swimming pool is closed twice each year for routine maintenance. The pool was closed for such maintenance during your visit on 14 February. Since part of the maintenance procedure involves adding chemicals to the water, the pool must remain closed for a period of 24 hours to allow the chemicals to dilute. For Health & Safety reasons we cannot allow anyone use the pool during this period. All of our customers were informed upon entry that the pool would not be in service. In view of the fact that the pool was closed on the date of your visit, the Jacuzzi was left running all day. Normally the Jacuzzi would run for 15 minute periods, with breaks of 15 minutes in between. I personally monitored the Jacuzzi temperature throughout that day and I am able to assure you that the temperature was between 36-40C all day. Regarding your complaint about the smell in the steam room. For this we must apologize. It’s true that the steam room did have a rather unfortunate odour on that day. The smell was not however due to a failure on the part of our cleaners, as you seem to suggest. Indeed the smell was due to a problem external to the sauna.
Tony Rating Date of visit 22 Feb 2005
Part 3) On the Sunday prior to your visit there had been a blockage of the drains behind the sauna. The blockage was in fact been cleared by external contractors on the Sunday afternoon, thus allowing us to re-open the steam room. Unfortunately however the eucalyptus essence used in the steam room was not strong enough to mask the smell of the external drains, which had been churned up during their clearance. Sadly the smell continued to linger until the Monday of your visit. We can however assure our patrons that the problem with the external drain has been addressed, and the unpleasant odour is no more. Which brings me to your next point regarding our cleaners. The Oasis Sauna is currently seeking two new cleaners to replace those, which are soon to leave our employment. However we are currently fully staffed, and we are very happy with the standard of work carried out by our cleaners. We would therefore reject your comment that our establishment has, to use your own words, “become a pit”. After reading your notes I made a personal check of both of our saunas for the filthy corner you mentioned. I confess I was unable to see this “cockroach heaven” which you refer to. I would therefore invite you inform me of its exact location so that we may take appropriate action, should it be necessary.
Tony Rating Date of visit 22 Feb 2005
Part 4) As you may or may not be aware the Oasis Sauna is currently embarking on an ongoing process of improving our sauna facilities. Already we have replaced one of our boilers, and are in the process of replacing the other two. Additionally we are replacing the pipes, which feed into the shower areas. This upgrading process is both gradual and costly. However we are committed to making these improvements on behalf of our customers. At the time of writing this response, we are able to confirm that we are experiencing no problems with our shower facilities. I hope that this detailed response has addressed all of your concerns. If you have any further comments, please feel free to contact myself, the writer of this response, Tony Masters, Brighton Oasis Duty Manager or Simon Gale, The Manager of The Brighton Oasis.

Having had funherebefore I visited today at lunchtime. What a desert! Not only was it very quiet but it was dirty, see under benches, grey showerheads , but the showers were weak and luke warm. The jacuzzi was cold and the pool not in service (as usual). The water in the jacuzzi and pool was simply a hazard. The steam room stank like old socks. Its really not hard to make a mint out of these places but for the want of somple hygeine they dont deserve it. I know they are looking for a cleaner but thats no excuse to let the place become a pit like it is for the want of one for a short while. Dont go until its improved. They are now at the right temp. The changing rooms showers are next to be sorted out. They run of different systems. The Pool temp is coming back to normal now the unit for that has been replaced. The Rest rooms have been closed off while being painted. Now they are all open. We never close off all the rooms at the same time, 3 or 4 rooms at a time. We have spent over £400 on new porn videos and for Bears day we only play Bear videos. Some of you also may have notice that we have changed our music and play chillout/ easy listening during the day and more club / dance for friday and saturday night. We are very interested in your views and suggestions. We wish to remain Brighton best all male sauna.

I found the place to be busy and clean, plus after reading the other reviews below, I couldn't fault the place. The porn was good and I ask them to play the video again as I got the backend of it and they did. Food was nice too, but you can't go far wrong with fish and chips. I didn't notice any problems with the showers but the pool could have been warmer. Nice and I would go again if my friends from london were down.

Was a complete disappointment. We visited in the evening and there was no video playing and the upstairs was closed. This was due to the fact that there was only four guys in the place... and two of them were getting ready to leave when we arrived. I know the management cannot magic guys in to busy the place up but they could at least have told us it was empty and half-closed before taking our money and letting us in! When we expressed our disappointment to the butch (and very hunky) receptionist, he clearly couldn't give a monkey's and didn't even offer to put a video on for us!! This used to be a nice sauna but the failings of current management and the complete lack of customer service by the receptionist leaves me rating it the worst sauna in Brighton.

I'm only giving this one star because you can't give it no stars! What an absolute dive! Showers off the changing rooms are a trickle of water that alternates from scolding hot to ice cold, with a tiny broken shower head wrapped in tape to keep it together. I also noticed many missing tiles from the wall of the jacuzzi, the gaps/holes being covered up with black bin bags and more tape. This may have been a great sauna 2 years ago, but it's gone seriously down hill in the maintenance stakes. When I'm paying £10 to get in, I expect better than this!

Both steam and saunas are excellent. The rooms are clean and 'interesting' with some innovative additions to them. On the walls of each room is a paper towel dispenser which saves you the problem of having to wipe anything on the towel you've got to put around your waist. Each room has condoms and lube placed in it. In the lavatories Listerine has been placed (nothing worse than meeting Halitosis Hilda) along with boxes of tisses. Food upstairs in the lounge is excellent value. And I want to try for a baby with the Scotsman at reception. Must be one of the best in the UK.

Very disappointing. Nothing but disco queens with attitude. Hardly any action, and no sign of any bears on the bears day - so much for support bears!

This was my first visit. Very clean and staff were friendly. Went into the sauna and a lot of activity taking place. Joined in and started to suck chap off. Within seconds was being fingered and sucked by numerous others. Not a problem but no one asked and fingers and bits were going up my ass without me knowing where or who they had just been in. A bit risky with dieses that are going about. Did not feel like you were choosing who you wanted, more that you had to put up with anyone doing anything to you. The big fat bloke was disgusting and I did not really want his fingers up my ass and his cock being pushed into my mouth uninvited.

Really relaxing club and very clean. I even broke my own record and got fucked by thirty four men in one of the private rooms. Never swallowed so much spunk in all my life. Then drunk wine and danced all night to soft cell. Got caught wanking meself off in the car park near the club...SORRY!

I liked the place...one of the best saunas around, friendly staff (when I mentioned it was my first time there, they went out of their way to tell me what was in there).Very Good facilities-reasonably spaced. One of the few saunas to support 'bears' too!

Food Bar service very attentive. d) Facilities are very good, albeit a trimnasium would be a great asset.
