There's nothing not to like about this sexy and stunning bathhouse a short drive east of downtown. Opened in 2003, it's set inside a beautiful building that looks more like an upscale day spa than a sex spa. You can relax on the expansive, lushly landscape sundeck, stroll about the modern industrial-inspired bathrooms and hallways, play in the massive steamroom or group showers -- it's all fantastic. Predictably, the complaints about Steam Portland come mostly from guys who find the youngish, generally pretty clientele either ageist, stuck-up, or both. That's definitely the vibe, especially on weekends, but the staff does an impressive job treating everybody well, and you can rest assured that Steam wants your business, and for you to have a good time, no matter your age or body type; there are no "face police" here. A great policy for visitors: you pay $8 for a guest pass, but it's good for three days (you just have to show ID to prove that you don't live in or near Portland). Lockers are half-price on Wednesdays, which are very popular nights (Saturday is the other great time to go). Open 24 hours. Check out the great Web site, which offers regular specials.
